The train conductor working on Rio Grande's Provo switcher ties down his caboose on the eastward main track at Provo on June 7, 1977. The D&RGW 01504 was built new by International Car for the Rio Grande in October of 1966.

Roundhouses, waiting rooms, offices, platforms, carpeted aisles, and other places. One catches these at their trade, both on and off the clock.

Have you ever watched cabooses, enjoyed their uniqueness, wondered about the men inside, or the jobs they do? Once an everyday sight on the rails, they have decreased in numbers, yet they are a very important part of railroad history.
