Remarks & Notes

Mainline Steam Main Trunk Trekker from Auckland to National Park skirts rock formations typical of the area. The line climbs at mostly 2% for about 30Km from Te Kuiti to Parootarao Tunnel and crosses the first of many viaducts. The line was electrified in the 1980s between Hamilton and Palmerston North.
