With not a breath of wind to relieve the humidity, the thermometer was hovering on a very uncomfortable 31 degrees as I awaited the evening run of the 'Scarborough Spa Express'. Whatever discomforts I was suffering, they must have been magnified several fold for the poor footplate crew. As ever, 'Scots Guardsman' looked magnificent in the early evening light as the train passed on its way towards Castleford, about another mile further down the line.
