    Remarks & Notes
If you are driving along the 401 you might just miss this place, but if you travel a little off of the beaten track you might be surprised with what you can find. Situated in the small community of Salford, Ontario, the Ontario Southland Railway has a locomotive shop which serves as headquarters for their St. Thomas/Woodstock operations as well as their Tillsonburg division. At Salford, one can find a unique variety of power but switchers up to road units. The OSR is a fine example of how a shortline can successfully take over what the class one's have left behind. Here, on a sunny August morning, a gorgeous EMD NW2 still in TH&B paint rests outside of the shop. Many are anxious to see if 51 will run but the rumor is she is in need on some repairs. As a Hamilton boy, 51 is my favorite on the OSR roster.
