Remarks & Notes

If you're going to crash, might as well make it spectacular. Southern Railway's new aluminum "silver side" coal hoppers detailed atop a trestle near Frisco, Tenn. and the Big Hook was uprighting one of them on Nov. 4, 1960. Doubtlessly the two loaded cars had to tumbled to the ground before bridge crews could reach the damaged girders to replace them, and then rebuild the track.
