| Class 5E1 Series 5, E1101, a firm favourite of mine and I love seeing her out and about. Seen here (still with her diamond shaped pantograph) working with Road Knowledge Coach No. 40117 passing through Cato Ridge on their way to Durban from Danskraal. The opportunities to photograph this considerably refurbished vintage (1966) locomotive from the front are extremely rare. As a rule she always has Coach No. 40117 coupled in front of her. A classroom type setup, with driving controls and a large viewing window at the end have been fitted to and within Coach No. 40117 for driver training and road knowledge experience purposes. |
