Class Act by a Class 1: It's not everyday that you will find Class 1 freight locomotives on a passenger train, much less on a tourist train! However, for the two weekend annual visit of Thomas the Tank Engine to the Lebanon, Mason & Monroe Railroad in Lebanon, Norfolk Southern generously provided the use of GP38-3 rebuild NS 5805 to provide the motive power for the trips, giving the LM&M's regular unit, GP7 55, a much needed break, and showing how much of a class act they really are. In this view, NS 5805 leads the final trip of the day at the Norgal Drive Crossing, passing the Trupointe Spur and some stored LM&M equipment. Thomas is on the other end of the train, and will lead on the return trip. Special thanks to Norfolk Southern Corp. and the Lebanon, Mason & Monroe Railroad for making the dreams of so many children come true!
