| During my 2 most recent trips to Silver Zone Pass both the eastbound and westbound daily Union Pacific manifest trains on this route have passed in daylight. This shot shows the MRORV (Roper Yard in Salt Lake City to Roseville, CA) train wrapped around Arnold's Loop. About 2 or 3 more miles to go to the 5940' summit of the pass and then it's downhill to Shafter, Nevada before climbing again. Pilot Peak dominates the eastern horizon. |
