| On the last day of the 1987 Roanoke Convention, once again N&W's finest did the honors. N&W 611 took the lead with N&W 1218 and the convention train coupled behind her. The train ran east to Lynchburg where the train was split, half going north to Alexandria behind the Southern FP7s and half returning to Roanoke behind N&W 1218. This image captures both locomotives moving down to the convention train in Roanoke. N&W 1218 once again demonstrates articulation as she goes through a crossover.
