C&NW Baldwin AS-16M 1498 (ex-MKT 141) shows off its EMD GP9 long hood while switching the industries in Appleton, Wis., on December 20, 1980. Katy had the unit repowered by EMD in 1960, which resulted in this hybrid appearance. C&NW purchased the engine in 1973 to replace Fairbanks-Morse roadswitchers in northeast Wisconsin. The 1498 was retired in June 1981 and scrapped. Kodachrome 64
