Avalanche! Two days after a series of avalanches closed BNSF Railway's Hi Line Subdivision, traffic is finally getting back to normal in northwest Montana. One of the largest slides came down at the Goat Lick Overlook near Essex and went under U.S. Highway 2 before temporarily plugging the Middle Fork of the Flathead River. High above the slide two trains meet on Goat Lick Trestle.
