| Interregio 2271 "Wilhelm Tell Express" from Zürich to Locarno including a panorama car is coming down from the Gotthard mountain line and passing the portal of the new Gotthard base tunnel (two single bores) near Bodio/Pollegio. The 57 kilometer long (world record) Gotthard base tunnel (GBT) will open for regular traffic in december 2016, with first trains through from summer 2016. The highspeed switch in the foreground will allow the freight trains from the GBT to go onto the "old" line and run via Biasca, to let by the two times faster passenger express trains on the new line. |
