This Is The End: In recent months, nearly a dozen Montana Rail Link SD45-2s have been sold and scrapped in Livingston, Mont. and these three locomotives – leading BNSF Railway's H-KCKSPO1-21 near Noxon, Montana on May 25, 2014 – could have met the same fate had BNSF not been power short this summer. For now, nine of these classic SD45-2s soldier on hauling freight across the old Northern Pacific. How long this arrangement lasts is anyone's guess and what happens to the engines after is just as mysterious.
