| The daily southbound Denali Star is running right on time as it leans into the curve at the exit of Elmendorf AFB. On the mountain top in the background is the remnant of Nike Site Summit, a Cold War relic which protected Anchorage with a battery of nuclear-tipped missiles from invading Soviet bomber formations. |
