| Iowa Northern is running unit ethanol trains to the Iowa Interstate in Cedar Rapids, traffic that was once going to the Canadian National at Waterloo. That means extra trains are now running south of Waterloo on a route that is normally a nighttime operation. Here the extra rumbles out of Mt. Auburn with a consist of everything. The Iowa Northern needs plenty of power on the trains south of Waterloo due to the grades at Mt. Auburn and Vinton, plus the grade at Wilson Ave on the Crandic in Cedar Rapids. |
