Swedish-built X2000 departs Philadelphia's 30th Street Station on a revenue run during its trials for Amtrak in the U.S. Amtrak tested both the X2000 and the German ICE trainsets; rather than buying "off-the-shelf" versions of either, the best features of both were combined to produce the Acela trains for high speed service on the Northeast Corridor. The Philadelphia skyline is rather attractive; for years there was an unwritten rule that you can't build higher than Billy Penn's hat atop City Hall. By the time that rule was violated, the era of the boxy skyscraper had passed and the new buildings featured some nice architectural touches.
