| A visiting SD70M pulls a short container train along the former NYC water level route. In the background the Medusa Cement Co. silos west of Sandusky OH sit abandoned as they have for many years. In 1892 the plant was located here in the middle of a marsh due to the readily available deposits of marl and clay. The Portland White Cement produced for nearly 70 years was used all over the country and in 1913 as far away as London England. Several thousand barrels were used in the beautification of Buckingham Palace. |
