    Remarks & Notes
A lone survivor! No. 82 is the oldest surviving High Hood ALCO locomotive complete with its original prime mover, a McIntosh & Seymour 531T diesel engine. It is the only surviving HH900, and the oldest surviving example of a turbocharged diesel locomotive. Part of an order for 5 locomotives purchased by Birmingham Southern in 1937. Sold to American Cast Iron Pipe in 1964, and donated to the Heart of Dixie in the mid-1980s No. 82 is in the final stages of a full cosmetic restoration back to its as delivered appearance to the Birmingham Southern Railroad. It will be on permanent display at the Heart of Dixie Railroad Museum in Calera, Alabama.
