| With its expansion to the Humboldt Mill, Mineral Range is becoming one of the more interesting and classic looking shortlines in the upper midwest. Not too many years ago Lake Superior & Ishpeming had this track up for abandonment. Now, Mineral Range has purchased this track and rehab is underway. CN also passes this way to reach their line to L'Anse/Baraga. The history of the route is evident with numerous abandoned mines found along the way. Here a train of empties pass the old Lloyd Mine west of Ishpeming. |
