Remarks & Notes

On a beautiful summer morning at the former Rio Grande Gilluly Horseshoe, SP's Roseville to Alton & Southern manifest grinds upgrade with 72 cars on Aug. 31, 1996. The train still has 700 feet of elevation and seven miles of track to to ascend to reach Soldier Summit. A manned three unit Rio Grande SD40T-2 helper set is shoving on the rear of the train.
