    Remarks & Notes
Rail equipment rusting into the ground at the now defunct Pilbara Heritage Railway Society. The ALCo C415 pictured was the first of its kind and toured America as a demonstration unit before being purchased by Hamersley Iron in 1968. It is the only such unit to have operated outside of North America. The PRHS fell victim to a combination of a greater reliance on a Fly-In/Fly-out workforce and an inability to conduct mainline tours after signalling upgrades on the Rio Tinto railway lines. The tender in the background was used when the society owned and operated English steam locomotive Pendennis Castle which was sold and returned to the UK in 1999.

These are engines that are either already scrapped, are in deadlines, or they're in severe danger of being scrapped. Not everything can be preserved.
