Montana Rail Link's night Gas Local heads west out of Missoula past DeSmet, Montana, on May 9, 2010. DeSmet is the junction where MRL’s shorter Tenth Subdivision over Evaro Hill heads for Paradise. On this particular day, the gas local has a large cut of MRL boxcars headed for storage at Paradise up front. With this added tonnage, the train will take the easier grades of the Fourth Subdivision along a scenic Clark Fork.
