| NS E13 North passes R 178 in Graniteville 10 years later just before sunrise. On Jaunary 6, 2005 train 192 northbound was diverted from the mainline into a side track head on into a tied down local p22. The accident spilled chlorine and a few other chemicals, killing 192's engineer and 8 others. Clean up took weeks and environmental effects still linger today. Not only were some did the health of the population suffer, but the local textile mill shut down. Today mew jobs are coming in because Reclaim took over the site of the old mill. NS 192 now runs as E13 on the R line is essentially this is the same train that was involved in the accident 10 years ago. |
