A trio of EMD SD40-2s pull Union Pacific's LUF51 local up a 1.14% grade approaching the 4812 ft. summit at Point of the Mountain on July 19, 1989. The LUF51's regular routing via trackage rights on the parallel Rio Grande was unavailable due to a maintenance of way work window.
