    Remarks & Notes
BKRR RS-3 #4116 leads the Batten Kill's snow flanger past a bucolic scene in East Greenwich, NY. This scene is historically significant as the 4116--still lettered for the Greenwich and Johnsonville--is on original Greenwich and Johnsonville track here. Though the Batten Kill runs on the former D&H Washington Branch between Greenwich Junction and Eagle Bridge, this section of track between Greenwich Junction and Greenwich is originally G&J track. Winter is one of the only times to catch the Batten Kill on this section of track as the engine needs to be stored in the enginehouse in Greenwich. In the warmer seasons, the engine typically stays outside Cargill in Greenwich Junction.

New York state has the largest number of ALCO diesel locomotives working in everyday service. Here are some of them. Soon I hope to chronicle all of them.

Photos in which the train or railroad element looks out of place. Generally speaking, places where you would not expect to see a train.
