Seaboard Air Line No. 3, Passenger, Mail, and Express, is leaving double track D251 territory at Fetner led by E8A 3058 heading into the crossover from Southern Rwy to Seaboard's single track mainline to Hamlet, NC. thence Atlanta. Southern's Greensboro to Goldsboro line diverges just ahead with a sharp right curve to the west while Seaboard will diverge south with a sharp turn to the left about a mile ahead. This photo goes back to the days of well groomed right-of-ways, painted bridges, and railroad names proudly displayed.
