| Former British Rail class 90 Bo-Bo electric No 90 007 'Sir John Betjeman' climbs the 1 in 130 of Belstead bank as it accelerates away from Ipswich with the 11.30 Norwich to London Liverpool Street train formed mostly of ex-Virgin Mk III carriages from their disbanded "Pretendelino" set . This is one of the very few routes where locomotive hauled passenger trains can still be found in the UK abeit propelled back from London with the loco on the rear of the train. The locomotive bears testimony to the several changes of operator on this route from First Group to National Express to the current Abellio. |
