Rio Grande liked Alco switchers and the road bought two Alco PA/B/A sets for passenger service. But freight, not so much. Five RS3s found their way onto the roster in 1951 and, unlike competing EMD road-switchers, were almost immediately demoted to local service, where they lasted until 1966. On June 29, 1964, the 5202 still wears the original Aspen Gold-stripped paint scheme as it works the southbound Louviers local, 20 cars, on the Joint Line near Sedalia.
From a hint of "Bee" (NKP 765), colorful "Bees" (KCS), "Bees" w/ "attitude", to "Bees" that "sting" your eyes, in their own way they have "Bee" on display! Equipment that "Buzzes" with Yellow & Black colors! ("Bees" can still "Bee" entering this "hive"!)
