Remarks & Notes

With only 5 or 6 big chunks making a load, Union Pacific’s local with 3 GP38-2’s haul logs southward along the Payette River south of Smiths Ferry, Idaho on Aug. 18, 1977. The northern end of the 132-mile Idaho Northern branch from Nampa was later shortened 33 miles north of Cascade.
