These are the last days for this lumber railroad, soon it will be gone, but the work continues until the mills run out of wood. One of this day's tasks was to retrieve caboose 201 from the weeds in the back lot and move it to the roundhouse where prep work would take place. A last "hospital train" was planned for the coming week to gather equipment up at Mill 5, and the crummy was to provide seats for riders. The caboose is a 1981 PACCAR product, built for Chehalis Western RR as CWWR 597 and coming to Simpson after that line went defunct. It has been resting at the waterfront for several years and the Simpson Red has been fading back, revealing the original Weyerhauser Yellow.
