Saturday of the 1981 Cass railfan weekend found Bald Knob mountain encased in patchy fog, with the scenic view from the summit being all of about fifty feet. On the way up, doubleheaded Shays 4 and 3 put on quite a show at Whittaker, as the coal smoke had a hard time dispersing in the still, saturated air.
