          Remarks & Notes
Fort Bragg, near Fayetteville, North Carolina, was served by the Cape Fear Railway, which operated the base's two United States Army Transportation Corps Alco MRS1 locomotives, numbered B-2087 and B-2088 (each built in 1953). The CFR mainly carries aviation fuel for nearby Pope Air Force Base's aircraft, as well as military equipment, ammunition, and plywood, and it provides deployment support. Sometime around 1992, just three years after this photo was taken, the MRS-1s were replaced with a pair of US government GP10s, which is a shame given B-2087's immaculate condition!
