| DFT7104 approaches the Waitakere tunnel with a push-pull set of ex-British Rail passenger cars. Most Auckland diesel suburban trains featured smaller 'DC' class locos, but a handful of longer sets were powered by DF class units. This working only had one week left when I photographed it, with EMU sets taking over the Auckland suburban network from the following Monday. The scenic single track section to Waitakere was not included in the electrification scheme, and would sadly be replaced by a bus. |
