| Crew members keep a watchful eye on the road ahead as parlor car 64 leads the westbound run of the Hawaiian Railway 3:00pm excursion. This car is one of many historic pieces in the museum's collection. Car 64 was built in 1900 at Honolulu for Benjamin F. Dillingham, founder of the OR&L. The car survives today and is used at least one weekend per month on scheduled excursions as an extra fare car. There is no run-around track at the current western end of the line, so all excursion trains must run in reverse one way. These trains operate over the original three-foot gauge right of way of the OR&L. |
