| Southern 401, a 1907 Baldwin, rounds a curve into downtown Monticello as it powers a Monticello Railway Museum excursion during the museum’s Railroad Days event, which sees an expanded train schedule utilizing many of the museum’s restored locomotives. The museum operates regular weekend excursions between their depots at Nelson Crossing and downtown Monticello with the 401 or one of their vintage diesels. The route consists of a few miles of combined trackage from adjacent lines of Illinois Central and Illinois Terminal. |
