Today we see class 1 railroads making public relations investments in heritage paint schemes and classic steam locomotives. However, it's hard to imagine the business case for the D&H to purchase the Baldwin RF-16s, "Sharks," 1205 and 1216 in 1974. The D&H already had the classic PAs and had no prior experience operating and maintaining Baldwin locomotives. I guess I shouldn't ask questions. If not for the D&H, I would never have seen such a unique locomotive. Here they are on one of their typical assignments, switching onto the EL at Owego, NY on their way to Binghamton, NY from Sayre, PA.
This gallery contains photos of equipment and properties that became, were and used to be part of the Delaware & Hudson Railway. This gallery also contains photos of equipment paying tribute to the D&H or its predecessors.
