Remarks & Notes

Colorado's Sawatch Range "fourteeners" (mountain peaks exceeding 14,000ft.) provide a backdrop for a westbound on the Tennessee Pass Subdivision. This location is just west of Malta (Leadville) and the train is within 10 miles of the summit at Tennessee Pass. This was the last summer of Union Pacific's operation of this line, and it was a treat to catch a Rio Grande tunnel motor in the lead.
