Portent of things to come – General Electric B40-8 demonstrator 808 greets a new day in front of the NYS&W enginehouse in Binghamton, New York. Another year later, twenty more B40-8’s would arrive, financed by CSX to handle stack trains. While on the NYS&W property, the 808 operated on mainline trains, but on this day, it ran solo in local service on the Northern Division.
