| Pulling the stiff grade up the eastern slope of the Tehachapi range, Union Pacific's westbound MWCRVC enters the Cache Creek narrows, leaving behind the Mojave Desert. After crossing Cache Creek back at Warren the railroad follows the contours of the creek's northern bank up to Cameron where the tracks enter the Tehachapi Valley. On the point of the Roseville bound tonnage a pair of brand new 2600 series ET45AHs (UP 2657 and 2643) sandwich a pair of older road motors (UP 7470 and 2560). |
