Slave master SD40-2, MILW 22, replete with icicle breakers leads scheduled freight 202 east along Hyak siding, just east of Snoqualmie Pass tunnel and summit. The train is en route from Tacoma, WA to Othello and on to St. Paul and Chicago. In the 60s the predecessor to this train was known as the Thunderhawk, and MILW was able to beat GN, NP, and UP freight schedules between the Pacific Northwest and Chicago. Not so by summer 1978.
