This view of the bridge across Stewart Creek in Smyrna was hidden by brush and trees until a couple of months ago when CSX cleared the area in preparation for replacing the bridge. The new steel bridge sections are sitting about a quarter of a mile south of here.
Once the vegetation was out of the way, the area was leveled and a gravel work/parking area was created. Next the wooden steps were built to make getting from the truck to the track easier. Just recently the scaffolding has appeared.
On this sunny September Saturday, Q583-19 is back up to track speed after meeting Q675 at Strickland.
