Remarks & Notes

MILW 24 heads up a quartet of SD40-2s as its westbound extra gets underway at Kittitas, WA after stopping to cut out helpers, viewable in the distance. The grade west of Beverly climbing out of the Columbia River valley was the ruling grade on the Milwaukee mainline in Washington state, steeper than the climb to Snoqualmie Pass. Helpers were in regular use based out of Kittitas.
