"The New Kid on the Block at NYAR; Progress Rail PR20-B (Rear Photo)"
One of two brand new New York & Atlantic Railway (NYAR) PR20-B locomotives sits outside of the shops at Fresh Pond Yard shortly after delivery via CSX. Built by Progress Rail, these locomotives are Tier 3 emissions compliant road switchers with 2000 horsepower. There are 12 on order and will replace NYAR's SW1001s & GP38-2s, which will eventually be "taken back" by LIRR to use for their needs. As of now 300 & 301 have been delivered.
