The 1979 Pacific Railroad Society "Mountain Outin" passenger special, with Amtrak SDP40F AMTK 518 and AMK 517, is rolling westbound around the Caliente Curve towards Bakersfield. I rode the entire trip with the vestibule door open, as well as the baggage doors open, from Los Angeles to Barstow, then on to Mojave and over the Tehachapi Pass to Bakersfield. A great way to spend a trip over Cajon and Tehachapi Pass.
