| Union Pacific's westbound ZLCLT hustles into Mojave, CA aiming its momentum at the eastern slope of the Tehachapi grade. Waiting for the hotshot Z to clear sits a westbound BNSF grain train, awaiting its highball from the UP. Upon leaving BNSF rails at South Mojave the westbound 'earthworm' will be utilizing trackage rights between Mojave and Bakersfield that were first hammered out in 1899 by Union Pacific and BNSF predecessor roads Southern Pacific and Santa Fe. |
