The locomotive was built by the railway's own shop in 1972 and has been cosmetically restored. Now that "The Cog" has mostly converted to biodiesel locomotives, no. 10 will most likely spend the rest of its life staring into the distance at the very mountain it used to climb. Compare my photo above with this shot of no. 10 in a less-desirable condition five years earlier. Sister steam locomotive no. 8 was put on static display a few miles further north up US-302 in 2013. The tracks visible behind the display are operated exclusively during the autumn months by the Conway Scenic Railroad. Photo Comments (2)
