| The Wabash on Home Rails. NS 1070 approaches the distant signal to the siding at Holiday on the NS Hannibal District. The signal at H47.8 was installed by the Wabash during World War II as part of their innovative Manual Block Remote Control signal system. Developed by Union Switch and Signal Company, the system relied on code sent through the rail to control signal indications, advantageous during the war years when materials for wire code line were scarce. |
