Rock Island 4161 is an F9AM rebuilt from Union Pacific F3A no. 1440A for UP. The unit was built in March 1948 and rebuilt in January 1959. It was one of several Fs acquired by financially strapped Rock Island from Union Pacific in the 1970s. This unit was painted in the bright red/yellow scheme, while some were left in UP colors.
