Erie Mining Company Fairmont Hy-Rail motor car No. 8440 is from another era of track inspection, and was used on the 74-mile taconite-hauling railroad operating from Hoyt Lakes to Taconite Harbor, Minnesota. The unique piece of railroad equipment is preserved at the Lake Superior Railroad Museum in Duluth.
