| On their last leg are the impressive French CC 72100 passenger diesel locomotives on the French line 4 (Ligne 4) from Paris to Belfort. With a speed of up to 160km/h these intercity trains are in a way unique in whole Europe. No one else are such fast diesel loco hauled passenger services in place. These ageing locomotives (built 1969-1974, modernized 2002-2004) are due to be replaced thorough newly built diesel trains. The locomotives are scheduled to be gone by the end of the year.
Here unit #72179 is crossing with Intercité 1741 in full speed the bridge over the river Lanterne in Amoncourt on its way from Paris to Belfort. |
